The PT 1 is the first basic trainer of the Air Service after WW I. It was developed from the Dazton Wright TW 3, but with innovations like a fuselage framework from welded chrome molzbdenum steel. Because of it was so sturdy and dependable, it was nicknamed "Trusty". 221 were build and used in the late 20ies and early 30ies

The Ar 96 was the standard basic trainer of the Luftwaffe. 11546 were build during the war, some of them in Czekoslovakia. The production was set forth until 1948 (as the C-2). The later produced famous Zlin Trèner series follows the basic concept of the Ar 96.

The Roc was developed from the Skua. It should be a carrier-based aircraft which could kill unfriendly bombers with a broadside. It was too slow, so the Roc became a trainer and target tug with the RN and RAF instead.
