Junkers F 13 a, Germany, 1919 , Airliner 

 

The F13 was designed in 1918 especially for passenger transport. That made it the first true airliner. It was in use throughout the world, as passenger and freight airliners, for post flying and for various expeditions. More than 350 have been build. The F13 was build in various subtypes, with different engines, open or closed cockpit, sea- or landplane, etc.

 
 

Fokker C II, Netherlands, 1920 , Passenger and sports aircraft 

 

The Fokker C II was designed as a flying taxi. She was derived from the C I which itself was basically an enlarged D VII, the famous fighter aicraft from the 1. world war.

 
 

Fokker F III, Netherlands, 1921 , Passenger aircraft 

 

This was the first dedicated Passenger aircraft design. It was not derived from wartime aircraft. With these "flying limousines" airlines througout europe have been established. It was designed by Reinhold Platz.

The F IV is basically an enlarged F III, designed by Reinhold Platz. With aicraft of this type, a coast-to-coast airline was established in the USA.

The F V was a very special aircraft: She could be flown as a monoplane or as a biplane. The lower wings could be dismounted. So the most of the F V's have been flown with only the upper wings.

The Junkers W 33 is a freight airliner of the aera of the beginnings of commercial air transport. The W33 became famous by the first non stop atlantic crossing in east- to west direction april, 12th, 1928 by Köhl, von Hünefeld and Fitzmaurice.

The DC3 was developed from the DC2 and was one of the most successful aircraft. With this type comfortable voyages were possible the first time. The DC3 has no freight door, as the military version C47 has got. C47 has been build in much larger numbers than the DC3.

 
 

Junkers Ju 52/3M Tante Ju, Germany, 1935 , Airliner and transport 

 

The JU 52 was designed as an airliner, similar to the DC 3's role and it was quite successful. During the war the JU 52 became the standard transport and was used throughout the war on every scene. Some have been build after the war in Spain (Casa) and France (Amiot)
