The Do 335 had 2 engines, one in front and one aft. That gave the Pfeil the aerodynamics of a single- engine fighter, but the performance of two engines. So the Do 335 was (and is) the fastest industrial- build piston engine driven aircraft ever.

The Me262 was the first jet fighter to be build in industrial scale. When it saw action in 1944 it was successful. It's high speed and firepower made it the ideal fighter aircraft. It was used in various roles as fighter, fighter/bomber and nightfighter, equipped with radar.

Designed as a point defense interceptor, the Natter took off vertically with boosters, approached the attacking bombers with high speed, fired its rockets onto the bomber formation and deengaged quickly. The Natter never saw operational service.

The Komet, known as "Kraftei" (power egg), was build as a rocket driven short range interceptor against allied bombers. It was the first aircraft that was build in an industrial scale, that was driven by a rocket engine and the first one to reach the 1000km/h mark (540kts).
