Caproni di Taliedo (in Trento, Italy). In 1987 it was
transferred for restauration and display to the USAFM.
1994 an agreement was completd turning ownership to the

The exhibited aircraft is an exact replica of the first
military aircraft of the US, built in 1955 by personnel
of the US Air Force Museum. It is equipped with an
engine donated by Mr. Orville Wright and chains,
sprockets, and propellers donated by the heirs of the
Wright Estate.

This Model B was used for flight instruction by Mr.
Howard Rinehart at Mineola, N.Y., in 1916. It is on
display exactly as it was last flown by Lt. John A.
Macready during the International Air Races at Dayton,

This is a replica built in 1985-87 by US Air Force
Museum Personnel. It's build after the very airplane
that was accepted at Fort Sam, Houston, Texas, on
April 27 1911, one of 5 airplanes ordered by the army
that year. Since no original drawings or other
construction papers were available, the replica of no.
2 Pusher relies on fotos, other original Pushers and
some recent drawings. Except the engine all materials
used are essentially the same as used in the
original.

The USAF Museum aquired this SE 5 E through a
donation of Lt. Col. William C. Lambert, USAF
(ret.), a WW I ace with 21 1/2 confirmed
victories. He flew the SE 5 A as an american
member of the Royal Flying Corps and the
Royal Air Force. The museum restored it as an
SE 5 E of the 18th HW Sqdn, Bolling Field,
D.C. from 1925.

war. This airframe is a replica, painted as flown by
Lt. Arthur Rahn in April 1918 at the JaSta 19. Rahn

war it has been shipped to the US. In 1951 it
was bought by private hands, in 1996 it was

1984. It was badly damaged, but to be
restored in a joint venture of the NASM /
Smithsonian and the Berlin Museum für Verkehr
und Technik. It is shown in the markings of
the leader of the Schlachtstaffel 21, which
fought the 94.th und 95.th Aero Squadrons in
the summer of 1918 at the campaign of Chateau
Thierry.

This OA 1 A named after the city of San
Francisco was 1 out of 5 OA 1 A that made a
22000 mile goodwill tour through Latin- and
South America from December, 1926 to May
1927. The crews was awarded the McKay trophy
and the Distinguished Flying Cross. This
particular airplane is on loan from the NASM
/ Smithsonian.

This Douglas O 38 F is the first airplane to
be assigned to Alaska. In June 1941 it crash
landed 70mi southeast of Fairbanks due to
engine failure. The wreck was salvaged in
1968 and restored for the USAF museum.

was delivered to Argentina. In 1971,
Argentina presented it to the USA. Today it
is on display at the USAF Museum. It is
